A Good Electrician Vs the Others.

For bigger electric construction projects, many states need the verification of journeyman electricians as well as speciality electricians , for example splicers of high-voltage wire. This licensing trend is skyrocketing as more states recognize the necessity to protect house owners from incompetent electricians. The Electric Examination almost all states now require that electricians pass a demanding examination. These are hard tests to pass, but there are strategies to studying that may offer you an edge.

Regularly the entire test application process can be done on line intensive your state licensing board. Most electricians who fail the examination, know the material, but do notknow the right way to study correctly. Getting a license should be a goal that you set for yourself, it's a key to your future -- a gratifying, steady, well-paying career in the electric industry. In a thousand watt dimmer, you shouldn't surpass more than 800 watts. Some electricians will put one hundred watt dimmer and put ten lights on it. There are good electricians and there are others. Some pull home runs while not exceeding eighty percent of the circuit and a few of them don't.

Track homes are generally designed with few receptacles, no recessed cans, and no room for extras, like a door-bell. Before selecting an electrical engineer, I recommend you look at his work. A good electrical craftsman will reveal why your concept may not work or may cost over the long run. For that, you want to observe the rules and understand the sophisticated subtleties of the language-- and then practice. Candidates are customarily needed to report to the exam room at 8 a. Where the proctors explain the guidelines of taking the examination. Once the examination starts it continues till lunch -- when there's sometimes an hour break. As the examination starts, take 1 or 2 minutes to take a look over the quantity of questions given in the exam and work out roughly what kind of time you will need to spend on every one.

Electrical Fault finder

I use a Harris T100 to find distance to a short circuit. This is great but I was wondering if there is something that you can "wand" over the wall where the short is and it highlights exactly where the short is. for example I am going to a job now where the carpenter shot a 2" trim nail through a wire. I know within a foot or 2 of where it is. Problem is one piece of trim is baseboard painted trim the other is a piece of maple stained trim. I would love to know which particular piece it is. That is where the would be perfect

Electrician Good News

One of my favorite GC's calls me this morning. He wants a price on installing fixtures in a basement drop ceiling. New wiring for fixtures are present (I installed earlier in March)

I plan to use drop ceiling brackets with an octagon box and surface mount 2 lamp 13" round fixtures for the install.

Now the reason that I'm posting this is because this GC has a history of haggling with me and asking for a verbal quote from me before I really should give him any quote, especially when it come to these little projects. But not today I told him I will write him up an estimate after I look at the job more closely. Mainly because I got burned recently through my own stupidity in giving him a verbal quote for the last round of work performed at this particular remodel.

I do believe his panties got in a bunch when I told him this. He had to agree to wait for the quote. One of the last things he told me was " Make sure you treat the customer fair" Which translates into GC language "Get me a cheap price so I can mark it up"

Well not any more I'm going to price this out just like I price everything else out to my other customers. No special treatment because very few people (especially this GC )ever appreicates it.

This guy constantly chides me about my rates, and mark ups, and looking back thruogh his account he gets the most discounts. And why because we both have mutual freinds and hang out together.

No more, today I declare my freedom! My family comes first and thats just the way the turd floats!

517.73 vs 660.6

Can any one tell me which one is the article to be used when finding the rated ampacity of conductors and over current devices of a feeder for two or more branch circuits supplying x-ray equipment.
Here I find myself confused because both articles basically apply to the same condition.

517.73 Rating of Supply Conductors and
Overcurrent Protection

(2) Feeders The ampacity of supply feeders and the current
rating of overcurrent protective devices supplying two or
more branch circuits supplying X-ray units shall not be less
than 50 percent of the momentary demand rating of the
largest unit plus 25 percent of the momentary demand rating
of the next largest unit plus 10 percent of the momentary
demand rating of each additional unit. Where simultaneous
biplane examinations are undertaken with the X-ray units,
the supply conductors and overcurrent protective devices
shall be 100 percent of the momentary demand rating of
each X-ray unit.
